Past Book Club Events

From February 15 through March 31, 2015, the New Mexico Rail Runner Express participated in the Read to Me Book Drive. New and gently used books were collected and distributed to children in 90 Albuquerque area schools, preschools and community organizations.

December 13, 2014 - Book Bag Raffle at Santa's Village

Upland Avenue Productions held a raffle for everyone that signed up to be a member of the NMRX Book Club during the Santa's Village event in Santa Fe. The prize was a beautiful vegan leather book bag. The winner of the book bag raffle was Antoinette LeRouge.

October 25, 2014 - Book Signing & Costume Contest

The New Mexico Rail Runner Express hosted Janice Lovato, author of Germaine, the Beetle, for a reading and book signing on the train. The event included a children's costume contest and other activities. Participants rode the train from Santa Fe to Albuquerque and back. Many of the children put a lot of effort into their costumes. Everyone received a gift bag, and the winner of the costume contest was Miles, who was dressed as a lizard. He received an autographed copy of the book, which was also signed by Mrs. Lovato's son, Justin, 14 years old, who is the illustrator.
