The Downtown Bernalillo Rail Runner Station is located in the center of historic Bernalillo, which has held onto its rich history while offering budding employment, housing, and commercial opportunities. This central location allows travelers to get right off the train and experience the warm and inviting culture of Bernalillo. Once part of the famous “Route 66”, Bernalillo’s Main Street is now home to all kinds of specialty restaurants and shops.
One noteworthy place that has been there since the early 1930’s is Silva’s – the oldest continuous saloon in the country. Another timeless treasure within walking distance of the station is the old Sisters of Loretto Convent and High School. The building, which was in its heyday in the 1920’s, has recently been designated for historic renovation.
